I stayed inside with Finn. Still trying to lose my 'baby' weight I thought I'd try something new and got a perm! I haven't had one since junior high. It's easy and a nice change...for now!
Grandpa Larry (my dad) in his famous and, apparently, indestructable snow suit. I think he's been wearing this since I was a kid!
Here is the hill. Well, hard to really see it from this picture, but it's a good size. If the snow is just right you can sail down the hill and cross over the creek via the bridge...that is a good run!
Here I'm standing on the bridge at the bottom. Isn't the creek pretty?
Here is Finn in his teddy bear pram. We got dressed up and went out to take photos. He wasn't thrilled about me taking his picture...but I had to get him in this suit. It's almost too small already!
Our week in Colorado started with a great flight. Finn was amazed by the sounds, people and surroundings, but then quickly dosed off and slept the whole way! He was wonderful and all the nerves of traveling by myself with him quickly faded away.
We went to my girlfriend, Lori's, house first. Her and her husband, Chris, have a little girl, Tatum, who will be 2 this June. The great thing about June this year is that Lori is due with another baby on Tatum's birthday...this time a boy!
Crazy enough, I did not get one single photo of Lori's adorable belly or her family. But we enjoyed our stay so very much...always do! Thank you, Lori, for your hospitality!
Finn and I enjoyed taking lots of walks in Colorado. He's the perfect age/weight to ride in the Bjorn. Although it was still cool there, it wasn't the wet cold we get in Ohio. The sun was out, it was dry and crisp...he loved the fresh air! As you can see, it often put him right to sleep. : )
We also visited Shane's cousins Dave and Michelle at their new home in Fredrick, CO. Again...no pictures of Dave (sorry Dave!) but here is Michelle. It was so funny because as soon as Michelle took Finn and talked to him he started laughing out loud...and for the longest time! He is just starting to laugh like that, so it was a treat for mommy to hear him and see him have such a great time!
Here are my girlfriends from my Bible Study (when I lived in the Springs). Left to right, Jennifer, Lynn, Finn, Me, and Tonya. It was such a treat to see them and visit. I know they have busy schedules so it was wonderful to connect and be able to show off my new little love. God is amazingly generous...as I think back that it was only 3 short years ago that I was with them in group...very single and wondering what God had in store for me. Would I ever have a husband, family? I stand in awe of the ways I've been ABUNDANTLY blessed.
This is Smitty & Jeana, my old neighbors in the Springs. We would hang out/have dinner together at least twice a week when I lived there. We became close friends and I still cherish our friendship. I miss having them as neighbors. We have stayed close and it was great to be able to share Finn with them and catch up.
I had to take at least one photo of the mountains! I realized that I did not do that yet as I was driving down Powers. So this is my attempt to capture the beauty from a moving car window as I'm driving! Gorgeous!
Trina, another one of my cherished friends. She and her son, Axel, came to visit us a few times and we thoroughly enjoyed catching up and hanging out. We always have a great time with her and appreciate her cutting time out of her busy schedule to be with us!
As you can see, Finn was very happy staying in Colorado. I know he would be excited to live there some day (as daddy and I hope to do). I found this bib while shopping with Lori...thought it was a very appropriate description of Finn. : )
Of course, you can't visit Colorado without sunglasses! Mommy forgot to buy/pack some for Finn so I gladly shared my own. Too cute!
All in all we had a great time! I felt very empowered traveling with a 3 month old baby on my own. I know people do it all the time, but I was glad I did it and it was such a great experience. I appreciate all of my friends lending their time and hospitality! It was a blast! We look forward to doing it again soon.
