New Door

Here is the story behind our front door. When I first moved in with Shane, it was at his old house...the one he built w/ his exwife. It was an old farm house that they stripped and worked on together (with their own blood and sweat) to make their own. Needless to say, it was really hard for me to be there with his past and his ex's 'fingerprints' everywhere. I took wallpaper down, I did my own decorating, but it was hard for me to be there. So Shane bought a new front door...this one. We installed it and never painted it...didn't have time. But it was a new door, for a new chapter and a new beginning for 'us'.
The door came with us to our new house and was installed immediately (before we even moved in). I had grown attached to it and the sweet jesture it held from my wonderful husband. I bought paint to finish it but we conceived the month we moved in. Between pregnancy and working full time till Finn arrived, I was too tired to do it (and too round!). This year I finally got my act together and we have a fully finished door!
I joke about these signs...they are 'my' signs. :)
Notice the dog has a 'metallica' t-shirt on. She got in a scrap w/ the neighbor's dog and wouldn't leave her wound alone so we had to cover it. This was Shane's solution. He said he'd never wear the t-shirt again...isn't into that music anymore...but it sure was funny to see our dog walking around w/ a heavy metal shirt at Halloween.
Here are the kid's pumpkins. Finn's was painted (picked out by Hudson) and Hudson's was carved (just a teeny, little bit of help from daddy ;).
There are my favorites...the eyes light up/flash. They are scattered on the walk way as you approach our house. Next year we're hoping for a night time trick-or-treat so we can really dress it up!
Franky...he guards the fort.

Oh that is really sweet, when we first got married I moved in to eric's bachelor pad, and it's weird how even if you live there for awhile, it is just not "your home" so i was so ahppy when we made this home together.
